that's right....Gav has his first tantrum yesterday. He actually fell onto the floor....turned onto his belly and pounded the earth with his fists! Jeff and Jacob just sat and laughed and laughed....poor guy. Seriously though, what the heck! He's one...not 3! Oh man...we are in for it! Kind of like when Jacob was at little Gym last week and came running out bottom half naked from the bathroom asking for help with underpants. Oh lord...let the embarrassment begin!
PS: Gavin is walking all over the place now. His favorite thing to do? test mommy and daddy by going up the stairs when he knows he's not supposed to and giving us that devilish grin as he does it.

Last weeek...so much to talk about!

We bought a car! We traded in Jeff's near cash for clunker and got a 2010 Chevy Malibu and it's PUUUURDY! It was voted one of the best family cars in 2009 by parents magazine and it gets better city mileage than the Honda civic or Ford Fusion (who knew!). The best part of our experience was our salesman (when does THAT ever happen!). He's probably the reason why we purchased it.
So Jeff received the Chemo treatment last Friday. It seemed like an all day process but Jeff handled it with ease. I think his mom was probably in worse shape at times (but who can blame her!). I was forced to put on a smile and go to the circus per Jeff's orders so the boys could have a "business as usual" day. It was fun watching the kids' eyes light up (Jacob LOVED the 7 motorcycles in the round cage! I just couldn't put my heart into it but at least it was comforting that his mom was with him and there's no pain involved with the treatment. Once I got the boys home and off to naps it was time to disinfect everything for Jeff's return. I did not stop cleaning and wiping doorknobs and cabinets for a straight 3 hours. Yet I looked around and wondered what I had done all that time (curse of life with two toddlers I guess).
Jeff came home, took a nap, and then stayed up until 3am trying to master a game on the computer (the doctors said he might have trouble sleeping from the meds the first night). Unfortunately, the one week we should have been the healthiest was the one week all of us got very sick. I wish my vomit was due in part to sympathy pains but alas, it was not. We have felt like zombies and are just starting to feel normal again.
Although Jeff has done very well through the treatments, it has definitely taken a toll on him. He said that he's never had this uneasy feeling before....like he's just not himself. He sleeps a lot during the day but has managed to keep his smile on for the boys and keep positive. I see everything that must be done around me and it exhausts me before I even start doing it (that's probably because of the stomach flu though).
I will keep you all posted but so far so good! We all went to Mahany park today....also known as the bug park. I love being so close to so many fun parks for the little ones.

Can you beleive this? We have the best daycare EVER! On one of their many feild trips, they decided to go to the Roller skating rink. When we dropped the boys off, we had no idea that they would be bringing Jacob to roller skate....boy were we wrong. Looking at these pictures, it's so hard to beleive that our little toddler isn't even 3 yet and is roller skating like a pro! Of course he has his "friend Buddy" Lucas with him.

The last few weeks have been so surreal, I don't think we've had a chance to digest anything until just recently. One moment I'm watching my husband sit in excruciating pain as he was first examined in the ER and then I'm watching him recuperate from surgery and being given the news that he has testicular cancer. He's been amazing through the whole thing. Stubborn yes, but willing to do what was necessary no matter what.
We had our meeting with the Oncologist on Tuesday and that's when the big picture became relevant to our small world. Chemo Therapy or Radiation...we are actually leaning towards Chemo since it's only one dose and radiation would be 5 times a week for 3 weeks. The Oncologist said that both are just as effective and if Jeff plans on working through the treatments, Chemo may be a better choice. We will see. They called today to see if we had made a decision but not yet. We are hoping to start up the process at the very beginning of September but we will keep you all posted! Time is a monumental mound of inevitability....you know what's coming and you know what must be done but it still sits like a hard pit in your throat difficult to swallow.
Through all the chaos that has made up the last few weeks, we are so grateful. We will be celebrating Gavi's first birthday but because of the craziness that has been the last month, it will just be a few of his little friends at an art studio in Downtown Sacramento. Although it will be small, it will be magical. We've also changed our diet to reflect a more wholesome regimen. No more high fructose corn syrup! Beware people....it's everywhere. It's hard to find natural food these days! Crazy.
The support we've received has been astounding and humbling. Thank you all so very much.

That's what's new in my boy crazy world. We just went and got pictures taken by the amazing and talented Sandy Runner and I can't WAIT to get the disk in hand! Here are a couple proofs...

Jacob's special announcement: "NO MORE DIAPERS FOR ME! I HAVE BEEN WEARING BIG BOY UNDIES EVEN THROUGH NITE NITE!" We are SO extremely proud!

The timing must have been perfect....I was strolling down the isle in a grocery store and saw some pull ups with Toy story on them. Since we were about the embark on our first Theater showing ever (and Jacob's new fav Buzz light year was one of the stars) we decided to give it a try. We didn't start incorporating them for a a while....a little here...a little there. But it wasn't until Jacob saw a commercial on playhouse Disney that he really became committed to the going on the potty. There was a Little boy who was playing with his toys and suddenly felt the urge the go potty. He rushed himself to the bathroom and he "did it!" It just so happened to be an ad for the toy story pull ups that we had just bought! Jacob was determined after that. It was like a light bulb went off and he was ready! That was almost 2 weeks ago and Ja has been in big boy pants solely for over a week. we are so unbelievably proud!

We got back from our First Family Disney Vacation earlier this week and what a great trip! I would say that it was unbeleiveable but in the spirit of the happiest place on earth I will say..... that it was......absolutely.......believeable.

Getting Ready

Sunday was Landon's bug party (also known as one of the best 1 year old parties EVER!)& while we were hustling to get ready, Jeff asked if he could jump in the shower. Knowing that this is the red flag question that should I say "Suuuure!" I am automatically opening myself up for disaster, I of course, obliged. I decided to make sure that the boys were fresh and ready to go. As I began changing Mr. Gavs diaper, Jacob proceeded to bang a balloon against my head while repeating a sound that seemed much like what it would be like if...A BALLOON WAS BEING BOUNCED OFF YOUR HEAD! This also falls right in line with Gavin practicing his rolling technique while I was changing him. Good times.
Right about the time I got Jacob to stop with the raquetballooning, I smelled something rotten and foul trailing the toddler. I asked him if he did the deed and he conveniently denied. As I turned to place my focus on the Rollie pollie, Jacob decided to lend mom a "hand"....my two year old tried to take off his poop filled diaper by himself and came over to have me wipe the handful of feces sitting in his palm. I think we could have all cried in sync at that moment. It only got worse when I tried to lay him down and we managed to get poo ALL over my shoe!
Needless to say, my husband is never allowed to shower again! lol! Sick!

This morning when I was getting the kids ready to leave I put Gavin in the car first and then went to grab Ja. When we opened the door, our little Gavi was crying...I think he just felt alone because he was absolutely fine once big brother was next to him.
After I put him down tonight, I heard a little baby cry from upstairs and went in to check on him. It wasn't quite dark yet so I know he could see me. I rubbed his back and he was instantly soothed. One thing I noticed is that no matter what I was doing to ensure that he was okay to shut his little eyes and drift off to dreamland, he HAD to touch my hand almost as a sign to make sure I wouldn't leave. I knew he was staring at me and I stared back and smiled. There is something tender about little baby hands holding onto your skin and softly caressing it like their favorite blankie...it makes even the most sleep deprived parent stand by a crib without worry of what they are missing in their subconcious. It is priceless.
Everyday these boys do something to make me realize that the moment they came into my life my heart had been stolen....and I don't ever want it back.

Jeff hurt his back and decided that he needed a well deserved soak in baby jacuzzi (also known as the smallest tub EVER!). While he was up there resting his head, I was downstairs playing with the monsters. We turned on the Toddler Tunes and I started singing...just then Gavin's jaw dropped in amazement. It was the cutest thing ever. He then got really excited and started doing the Gavin Flap. I realized that I am blessed to have both of my boys share the love for music that both Jeff and I have. I went and got a bunch of musical instruments and we had a jam session. It was so darn cute I had to share just a little snibbit! Once I turned the camera on, the boys got a bit sidetracked but soon would tune it out. Jacob was so overstimulated, he couldn't figure out whether or not to play the maracas or the harmonica so he did both. Mom was in charge of the tamberine and lead vocals....hehehehe apparently I've made it big after all!

So we finally planted our garden! This picture was taken a couple weeks ago and every other day Jacob and I will go out and look at all of our new little sprouts. We call them our little babies. We have lemon Cucumbers, herbs, summer squash, baby carrots, tomatoes tomatoes TOMATOES and sunflowers! Can't wait to show off the production (I'm keeping my fingeers crossed that my mom blessed it with her green thumb when she was here last week).

I went on a baby food making spree this past weekend and put a lot of emphasis on veggies. My freezer if fully stocked. I decided to take a walk on the wild side a dabble with some poultry. I made Chicken with rice and apples and Gavers just gobbled it up! Cristina has even made beets for him and he's has enjoyed every last bit. He just loves food and I love being able to cook these food items for him and have it be SO SIMPLE. I made acorn squash the other day during a conversation with my mother in law and within 15 minutes, I had dinner for Gav! I don't know how they did it but pulling out the blender and boiling food separately seems like an ancient inconvenience. Thank you Lissy. Thank you Beaba.

The kids were having so much fun at Wacky Tacky just watching the slideshow of pictures and eating their spiderman cupcakes. I couldn't get that blue icing off of Jacob's chubby little fingers no matter how hard I tried. As bad as this sounds, apparently that icing doesn't change color once it leaves your body as well. So I think I found out the next place I am having Jacob's birthday party! This place was so much fun! I wish Daddy could've seen it! the kids and adults were having a blast! Here is Jacob goin down the slide....backwards! I was telling Mariah that he went down the slide when we had first gotten there and it freaked him out. I was convinced that he would have nothing more to do with it. But of course all he needed was a little encouragement from his buddy Mema and wouldn't you know it he went down! Shoot! The kid even went down backwards! Where did that come from?

So I promised Cristina (creator of the name Gav-O-lantern) that I would take a picture of our little Gavi's snaggle tooth before his two front teeth come in (which is happening right now). Well I guess it isn't a real snaggle tooth but it sure stands out like one! Shesh...My little guy is gonna have 5 teeth before he's 8 months old! What the crap! Not to mention he's been trying to crawl and has now decided that he is beyond that and wants to stand. That little stinker is now doing the downward dog trying to stand. They grow up SOOOOOO fast!

Jacob surprised me with a BEAUTIFUL bracelet for Mommy and insisted I try it on....well mommy tried to make it look easy and she squeezed and rolled that fixed pipe cleaner over her chubby wrist! Once mommy got it on, Jacob just lit up! All and all it was worth the pain! hahahaha!

Here is a raw look of the start of our garden...
As you can see THERE IS NOTHING HERE! I wanted to plant a garden so that my kids would enjoy and partake in watching nature take it's course and then reap the benefits! I will update pics as this process moves forward. My husband has been SO accomodating and helpful (as usual) with making this little dream a reality. I am so excited to see how it unfolds...we will be planting Sunflowers and Zinnias for some pretty color and then some Summer Squash, baby Carrots, Lemon Cucumbers, Heirloom and Cherry tomatoes, Cilantro, Jalepeno Peppers, and Basil. Who knows where this yummy Journey will end but it sounds delish! I found a very CUTE way of creating some markers for all of our little sprouts. I painted some rocks and put a coating of UV and water protectant on them. I made some for our extended family, the Andersons as they too will be venturing through the land of gardening as well!
So far Jacob has been really enjoying the process. We did peet moss pellots and planted some of our items already. He also picked out the Rocks for me to color and LOVED that I made him a "Jacob" rock. He says "J-A-C-O-B...that spells JACOB!" What a fun way to spend time with all of my boys.

So I broke out the Beaba Baby Food Maker to give it a test run on our little growing man. I made a carrot, potato, and turnip blend and it turned out great! As you can tell Mr Gav has really taken a liking to baby food. I can't WAIT to make more food! It was so easy once I got the hang of it! As you can tell, our little Goob was quite the fan!

So a couple days ago I caught Jacob having a fierce roll play conversation with his toy dinosaur and his James choo choo train. Out of no where I hear the dinosaur say "You're not da boss O me James!". I could not beleive what I just heard...our little man is starting to display his potential defiance in conversations with his toys...it will only be a matter of time before he does it to me! Well it didn't take long. We were getting ready for dinner that night and he said it to mommy...finger pointed and shaking my way with every syllable emphasized..."You're not da Boss o me!". So I then said "but Jacob, I'm your mom and you know what that means? I am definitely the boss of you until you are a grown up." He looked at me and with a moment of clarity he said "OOOH YAH!"
Ahhhhhh.... this is just the beginning of many great moments of putting my little one in his place.

My baby boy has started on the solid train....Well almost. Wednesday (March 3rd) was our first day giving Gavin Oatmeal. He ate every last bite! Of course big brother had to help feed him too. He thought it was so cool that he got to help mommy! The next day we tried Rice cereal and Mr. Gav just loves that too! Here are some pics of our little Goob Chowing down! Jacob had his first dentist appointment over at Kids Care dental and he apsolutely LOVED it! Mommy and Daddy loved it too! There were giant toothbrushes, tv's on the ceiling, a big indoor/outdoor play area and an AMAZING staff. Jeff said it's the kind of place you want to go home and write a review about because it was such a nice experience. Since Mr Gav already has two teeth and two more on the way he already has hist first appointment booked for Septemeber. Jacob has now been admitted to the NO CAVITY CLUB! YAYA!

Rollin into 6 months!

Gavin went in for his 6 month up and the doctor was very impressed at how well he sits up. He is now 18.5 lbs and almost 26 inches. After our little incident iwth Pnemonia, we decided to take the plunge and get a new doctor. The visit was great! Big boy J really liked the place too.
So although Gav has been sick and CUTTING TWO MORE TEETH, he still is SUCH a happy boy!

So after Jacob had eaten, Jeff sat down with his bowl of cereal and went to dig in when he got tied up with a gentleman at our door. Those poor little golden grahams were getting soggy and needed to be rescued.
Who dared to accept this tumultuous task but none other than the bravest two year old ever to face such a challenge. Though it didn’t come easy, Jacob acted quick. He prepared himself by opening up wide and armed himself with a “Jacob” spoon. Needless to say, there were no casualties. While Cheerios (Jacob's Cereal) are good for you, those soggy Golden Grahams (Jeff's Cereal) taste deeeeelicious.

This year, we had thanksgiving at our house and everyone came over. Mommy ran in the run to feed the hungry and had a great time (despite being all alone amongst thousands and thousands of people). Her run time was 41 minutes that included the massive delay at the start because of all of the people and the News 10 cameras!
We had a beautiful Thanksgiving with the family (despite Jeff catching the Bird on fire...literally!). Mommy decided that this year we were going to garnish the table with confetti in the shape of fall leaves and on each of them was a saying from someone in the family of something that they were thankful for. The table was beautiful and the food was very good too! The apple pinenut stuffing was a fav. Here's our little pilgrim getting ready for the big day...

This is the new game that we got for the Wii called "Just Dance" We tried it out with Papa Chappy when he visited at the end of December. If you aren't burning calories doing copying the dance moves, you sure are burning them by watching others try!

Jacob could not WAIT for trick or treating on Halloween. NOt really because of the treats (although that really played into it)but also because he really wanted to answer the door for all of the "KIIIIIIIIDS!". He was so much fun and our lil Pumpkin Gav was just along for the ride as happy as any little pumpkin could be. We went out that night with Grammie and walked around our little neighborhood and he was the talk of the town. Mommy somehow has to convince our little social bug that it isn't okay to want to just walk into othe poeple's homes though! He was the cutest and most polite winnie the poo ever. He said trick or treat and thank you all night long. It was adorable.

Tommy Choo Choo Twain!

So Jacob's Birthday was on the 17th of October this year and we went to Bishops Pumpkin Farm and MAN that place was INSANE! The entire week was up in the air with weather and that specific day ended up being much hotter than anyone had anticipated (my poor dirt and worm cupcakes!!!). The next day it rained and rained and then on Monday it was sunny again. Because Aunt Lizzy and Co wasn't able to make it, they sent thier present and we got the day after the big rain. I only emphasize that because they so graciously sent an entire Thomas the Train (or as Jacob would say "Tommy Choo Choo Twain!) slicker set with an umbrella! He was in Heaven and had to try everything on that very second!
The only problem was that it had to have been 80 degrees out! Although he was sweating like crazy, he was having so much fun!

Finally! I have been trying to get a picture of our little G smiling and without fail every time I grab the camera, he gets fussy. I still can't figure out who he looks like...he reminds me a lot of Jacob with much lighter features but lots of people say that this kid is lookin like mommy. We will see!

Big Brother Jacob wants to help out all the time with Baby Brother Gavin. He is SO in to "helping" it kind of freaks mommy out cause his version of the word "gentle" is much different than mommys! On January 15th, we had our first ultrasound and the doctor

said that our little "clump" is healthy and happy.

It was tonight that he walk twenty feet on his own.

Jacob's First Birthday

On Saturday October 18, 2008 we celebrated Jacob's first birthday.

He had a barnyard party, complete with piggy cupcakes,

hay bales, goats, bunnies, ducks, chickens, and the squeeling pig!!!

With all of this fun going on, he was very happy walking in and

out of the backdoor and trying to play in the fountain.

We all had a great time and look forward to more birthdays.

We HAD to include the crazy goat picture! Every time we see it,

we crack up! If you were thinking of getting a cute and cuddly

petting zoo for your child's birthday...

Woot woot!

On September 6th, we went skydiving in Lodi for Heather's 30th birthday! We all had an amazing time! It's crazy because it went SOOO fast. We got there and didn't even have a chance to sign our life away until we were called to suit up! However, once that door opened at 13,000 feet all fear was gone and just the open air remained...it was AWESOME!

Being a mommy tears at your heartstrings and floods your body with emotions so strong, one minute you’re crying and the next you’re laughing hysterically. It is the biggest rollercoaster I have ever been on and while at times I feel I can’t catch my breathe, I am so privileged to be enjoying the ride. Who knew that commercials could make you tear up or watching your son wave for the first time could fill your heart with so much joy you thought you were going to burst!

Man….if anyone was pregnant for the first time and they asked me for advice, I would tell them to prepare their hormones and forewarn their emotions for the craziest and most treasured experience they will ever endure. Many may try to describe it to you but it just isn't possible until you experience it for yourself.

There are so many great moments before us and we are already so overwhelmed with a love that we never possible and never want to live without.

Just thought I would share.

Jacob has been making this scary little demon sound and he thinks it's so funny. I must admit that as scary as it sounds (it's almost like "redrum" from that little boy in the Shining ...just not thaaaaaaat scary) we do egg it on! Ha!

Last week, Jeff and I celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary by going to 6 flags Discovery Park Kingdom (last week) and going to the opening night of Batman the Dark Knight. We also celebrated Cousin Stacey's 30th birthday and Jeff was Mr. Social (a"Few" beers always help). We had a great weekend.

Bekah said that she would watch Jacob for us on Friday so we could go to the movie and we couldn't have been more grateful. We ended up being gone for 4 hours because of the turnout for the movie and apparently Jacob was a bit on the cranky side. Poor Bekah...I felt so bad because we had to wake him up from a late nap so she could meet him and he was not a happy camper. She took it like a champ though!

On Sunday I noticed that Jacob just wasn't acting like himself. As I was feeding him, I noticed that he has his first tooth coming in (on the bottom left)! YES!!! Our little man is getting so big! I love it!

As Jeff said...the best years are ahead of us...I can see that being very true.

This last week, we were taking some footage of Jeff making Jacob laugh (which he can do so easily) and all of the sudden Jacob starting inching closer to him. So the footage that I was taking of him and daddy playing turned into Jacob's first crawling moments! Here's a couple clips from that day. It's only been a few days and he has the crawling thing mastered...LOOK OUT WORLD...LOOK OUT US!!! Here's when the fun REALLY begins...is it okay that I'm freaked out? He's gonna be into everything...I can tell

Jacob got new pictures taken on June 6th for Fathers Day which went over much better than Christmas time. It only took a half hour and he was quite the poser. He's my little gerber! Here are some of mommy's faves...I will be posting Daddy's Faves as well.

So a few weeks ago, our little meatball starting clapping his hands. About a week ago, he started clapping his hands and then waving his arms over his head. I gave Jeff a blank look not realizing that he had been watching me praise him and I would wave my hands in the air in this "cheerleading" stance when I would yell...Yeeeeaaayyyy! The little stinker was copying mama! It is a crazy feeling to see someone so tiny comprehend even the littlest thing and bring you to tears of joy. Sometimes even when he passes a big poop, I find myself yelling "Yeeeaaayy..." at the time I don't think it occurs to me that one of us has to clean it up but all I see is the smile of relief on his face and it makes me proud...I can't believe I just wrote that!
This week he has learned to flick his tongue on the roof of his top gums and stick it out like a lizard. It cracks us up!
